Volunteering
ThinktankVolunteering at Thinktank
Thinktank is Birmingham’s award-winning science museum perfect for fun-packed family days out and is a fun place to volunteer at too.
Volunteers get involved with a whole host of activities from interpreting the collections to the public and supporting new and exciting exhibitions to conservation cleaning, assisting with our natural science collection at the Museum Collection Centre, sharing STEM (Science / Technology / Engineering / Mathematics) knowledge and assisting with new projects.
If you visit Thinktank you’ll probably spot our Heritage Interpreters talking to the public about our collections and directing people around the museum, this wonderful team help to make sure all our visitors have the best possible time with us and are often on hand to explain a tricky engineering concept.
Every summer we also run our Summer Activities Assistant volunteer programme. These volunteers support us for five days over the summer holidays and help with family activities including object handling and experiments; it’s a great way to get a taste of volunteering with us!
If you are visiting us in the holidays you might also see our Meet the Expert volunteers. If you work in STEM subjects, heritage or culture, and would like to work with us on public engagement activities at Thinktank to share your work or research then perhaps you’ll be interested in finding out more about this programme.
We are extremely grateful to all our amazing volunteers at Thinktank.
