We offer a wide range of stimulating and memorable taught experiences, including on-site and outreach sessions.

On-site sessions

Our on-site taught sessions are a great way to explore our venues. They are fantastic opportunity for your pupils to broaden their knowledge in history, art and science.

Taught on-site sessions are available at Thinktank and we are pleased to be able to offer on-site sessions at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery for visits from the autumn term 2. (There are no sessions available at our historic properties.)*

All visits to any of our venues requires advanced booking, this includes self-guided visits (where applicable), taught sessions and teacher previews. For more information see our plan a visit pages.

*Changes to our on-site school sessions from September 2024

We are currently working on a new business model for the organisation, and we expect to see some changes to how we operate beginning in April 2025 (though these are still a work in progress). Until then, some areas of activity have been paused as we work this through, this includes the on-site sessions at our Historic Properties and some changes to our sessions at Thinktank. Our Historic Properties are a much-valued resource for our communities and we’re keen to continue to provide a range of activities at these sites. We understand the great value that our school sessions bring and this is being taken into account with our modelling. We are delivering sessions at Thinktank and BMAG so please so keep do keep checking our website or sign up to our education newsletter for more information.

Outreach: mobile planetarium

Our mobile planetarium, where we will bring our portable dome to you to learn all about the wonders of the solar system and beyond. Using state of the art digital technology and an inflatable dome, your pupils can immerse themselves in a planetarium experience without stepping outside their school! Sessions are available for EYFS and Key Stages 1-3.

The dome is approximately 3.1 metres high and 5 metres in diameter and fits into most school halls or gyms.
