Councillor David Barker
David was born and raised in Birmingham, where he has represented Brandwood and Kings Heath since 2022. He was brought up appreciating museums and libraries giving free access to culture for working class children.
In Council, he has delivered an enquiry into road safety, and served on the Sustainability and Transport, Planning, and Trust and Charities committees. David also sits as the Council-appointed representative on the Sir Barry Jackson Trust for the Birmingham Repertory Theatre.
Outside of Council, he is a member of the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner's advisory panel. Prior to entering elected office, David founded and managed an award-winning baby bank supporting families across Birmingham for over four years, worked as a political campaign manager and in communications.
David is passionate about safeguarding our city's heritage and culture, broadening its reach to all communities, and expanding our offer to neighbourhoods across the city.
