Volunteering at the Museum Collection Centre

The Museum Collection Centre is the main store for Birmingham Museums, holding around a million items.

Behind the scenes, our wonderful volunteers support the care of our collections through conservation cleaning, collection audits, documentation of objects and general collection care.

There is a team of volunteers who help transcribe the oral history collection, while others assist our Portable Antiquities Scheme by helping to record archaeological objects.

At the Museum Collections Centre, as at other sites, volunteers play a key role in welcoming and engaging visitors during tours.

We are extremely grateful to have amazing volunteers doing varied and interesting work at Museum Collection Centre.
