About Spooky Science Night: Trick-or-Treat

Join us for our annual Spooky Science Family Night, with a new twist for 2024!

This year we invite you to go Trick-or-Treating in the safety of Thinktank museum. There will be a total of five treat stations spread throughout the museum with a different treat to collect at each station.

(Most treats will be non-food based although there will be one station with allergy-friendly sweets plus an alternative for anyone with strict dietary restrictions).

Explore the museum after dark and take part in lots of spooky activities.

Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged! Get into the spirit of Halloween and show off your best costumes. Anyone in costume will be given a raffle ticket on arrival and be entered into a prize draw!


Alongside trick-or-treating there will be lots of other fun activities around the museum including:

  • Play 'Operation' - Try your hand at surgery with the classic game ‘Operation’ but life-sized!
  • Spooky Trail - Keep an eye out for our gallery trail as you walk around the museum.
  • Silent Disco - Have a spooky silent boogie under the Hurricane plane on Level 0.
  • Family Theatre Show - In our theatre prepare to be amazed (and a little grossed-out) by the weird, wonderful and often disgusting things that the human body does in our theatre show, Gross Encounters (6pm and 7pm in the Theatre, Level 3).
  • Fancy Dress Parade - Anyone in a spooky costume is invited to show it off and strut their stuff in a Fancy Dress Parade (7:30pm on Level 2).


Event information:

  • The event will run from 5pm-8pm (ticket-holders may enter the museum from 3pm onwards).
  • Fancy having dinner while you're here? Our café will be open serving hot food, snacks and drinks during the event so treat yourself to a tasty bite to eat.
  • Don't forget to visit our shop during the night where you can find a lovely gift for your friends and family or treat yourself to a souvenir.


Pre-booking is essential and all visitors attending must have a ticket.


Please note that MiniBrum and the Planetarium will be closed from 5pm owing to another event taking place. There will still be access to the Theatre on Level 3 for the show.
