About Family Dry Point Etching Workshop with Fae Kilburn
Join printmaker Fae Kilburn for a fun, relaxed family drypoint etching workshop inspired by our Rembrandt exhibition.
Explore Rembrandt's work for inspiration, then work with Fae to create your own self-portrait using traditional drypoint methods. Fae will guide you through the process of making marks and using a printing press to craft a unique drypoint etching to take home.
You’ll begin by scoring your portrait on a sheet of Perspex, experimenting with a variety of mark-making tools – from traditional to more experimental techniques. Next, you’ll learn how to ink your plate and use the printing press to create striking prints.
Feel free to bring an A5 photo as a reference, which can be placed under the Perspex to help guide your work.
Families are welcome to take breaks as needed throughout the session. If you have any access requirements, please email us at hello@birminghammuseums.org.uk ahead of the workshop
Maximum of 12 children per workshop, ensuring everyone has plenty of time with the printing presses and 1-2-1 guidance from Fae Kilburn.
Each admission ticket covers one child (under 15) and one accompanying adult. If additional adults are required due to access needs, please contact us via hello@birminghammuseums.org.uk
Entry to the Rembrandt exhibition on the day is included for both adults and children.
