Collecting Birmingham

Collecting Birmingham is a HLF Funded project to collect stories and objects that reflect real life in Birmingham over the last 70 years. Since 2015 the museum has worked with hundreds of local people to collect objects and stories relating to faith, protest, growing up and working in Birmingham. Objects and stories collected as part of this project were showcased in the Collecting Birmingham: Who is Birmingham? exhibition at Birmingham Museum and Gallery.

StoryLab

The StoryLab is a space in Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery designated for testing and experimenting with new ways of displaying objects and artwork. During 2017/2018 it has held two significant exhibitions, The Past is Now and Within + Without: Body Image and the Self .
